Official time out- before the game even begins

Of course, the pre-game show had to be exciting.
We didn't get into day surgery until 4:30. I became conscious around 6:30. Everything seemed to go smoothly and I didn't feel nauseous afterwards. Yippee! HOWEVER, of the one percent complications you can have- I did. My lung was nicked during insertion (because the lung is right there). Personally, I didn't know your lungs went up that high in your body. In fact, yes they do. So, I had to spend the night at the hospital for observation with a 5-10 percent collapsed lung. It's only painful when you take a really big breath. So little breaths for me. And, I can't go on an airplane, scuba dive or take my sub out for a spin. Good thing I'm staying home for spring break

Despite this incident, the port is a success. It will be put to work tomorrow for my first chemo treatment. I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep at home, but a little nervous for chemo. I know it will be OK, just have to get through the first round.
